About the Ukwa Carnival
Since its inception in 2017, Ukwa Carnival has become the heartbeat of celebration in Obehie, Ukwa West, Abia State, a grand cultural convergence where tradition meets creativity.
What began as a simple end-of-year community celebration has grown into the biggest annual festival in Abia State and the entire South East, attracting over 10,000 attendees in a single edition.
Ukwa Carnival is more than an event, it’s a homecoming, a reunion, and a showcase of who we are. It’s a time when families, friends, visitors, and brands come together to celebrate life, culture, and connection.
Fun
Two days of pure excitement, laughter, games, fireworks, music, and memories that last a lifetime.
Mission
To celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Ukwa and Abia people by creating a platform that unites people, promotes local talents, and stimulates social and economic growth through art, culture, and entertainment.
Vision
To be recognized as Africa’s most vibrant community-driven carnival, one that inspires joy, opportunity, and pride while preserving the beauty of our traditions.
Why the Festival Matters
Ukwa Carnival is more than colour and music, it’s a force for community transformation.
Every edition brings new faces, new businesses, and new possibilities. Local vendors thrive, artisans find markets, and the community blossoms with renewed energy.
It’s not just about celebration; it’s about building a stronger, more connected Abia State.
